Biography[]
Hoffman has had several prior arrests and was in and out of prison. He was also incarcerated with Oscar Hutchinson and had one brother, but an unknown event led to Hoffman's brother getting stabbed by a prison gang, due to Oscar's machinations. Hoffman was devastated and has blamed Oscar ever since.
During "Death Notice", Hoffman received word Oscar was in the hospital, as he was donating a kidney to his daughter. Hoffman saw a chance to get revenge but, seeing that Oscar was heavily guarded by hospital security and police, came up with a plan. He and two men broke into the home of Oscar's surgeon Dr. Bernard. Hoffman had the doctor's husband and son taken captive, while telling Bernard that Oscar must die in the hospital or he will have his associates kill her family instead. The next day, Hoffman disguised himself as a doctor to get access to the operating room, posing as "Dr. Acker" and sending notifications to his associates every half hour. However, the police became suspicious of him; Officer Celina Juarez runs his face from the cameras, discovers his identity and relays this to Officer John Nolan who talks to Oscar's surgeon, and she tells him how men broke into her house and are holding her family hostage unless she kills Oscar in surgery. She immediately identifies "Acker" as the leader, with Juarez distracting him until Nolan holds him at gunpoint. Hoffman is detained and his phone confiscated but he refuses to call off his men, stating he will ensure Oscar dies. The shocked Oscar asks what his reason is for doing this to him, and Hoffman brings up Oscar's role in his brother's death, which Oscar doesn't recall. Nolan then has his team go to Bernard's home, while Hoffman remains smug that they'll never make it. Unfortunately for him, the LAPD raided the home and rescued Bernard's family. After receiving confirmation, a satisfied Nolan told the shocked Hoffman that he has lost his leverage and is officially under arrest. He is then hauled off after Bernard agrees to ensure Oscar has a safe operation.
Hoffman and his men are arrested for kidnapping, hostage taking, conspiracy, and attempted murder.
