Summary[]

Officers Nolan and Bradford hope they can de-escalate a drug war before any innocent lives are lost. Meanwhile, Detective Harper hopes she can get Officer Chen ready to go undercover.

Plot[]

Bradford and Nolan talk to Cesar, who recognizes Bradford from the hospital. They tell him because of him killing her son, he started a losing battle with La Fiera because she will not stop until he's dead. Cesar is unfazed thinking he could handle it. However, the cops aren't sure and telling him he should hand over his father's organization but he refuses.

After tailing Cesar, they discover his lover Reyna. They decide to approach this, telling her they are aware of her relationship with Cesar and of his child. While Nolan talks with Reyna about her options, Bradford hears a noise and looks out to see armored trucks outside, Lopez calls to give a notification, but Bradford says La Fiera has already made a move and tells her to get back-up because five shooters are here. Hearing the danger, Nolan asks Reyna if her tub is iron cast and once confirming, he tells her to get her and her child in it for cover, as its bulletproof. Reyna quickly runs to get her baby to safety.

The two cops walk outside to speak with Galeno, who states failure to complete his order is death, meaning he and his men have nothing to lose. He offers a chance for them to leave but Nolan states they don't have the money to get that risk, as Galeno orders to attack. A shootout occurs with Bradford and Nolan ducking for cover in the house. Nolan managed to shoot Galeno, but thanks to his vest, he suffers minor pain and is enraged. The shooters storm the house but are picked off by the two cops. Meanwhile, Galeno searches for Reyna and the baby and hearing the cries, he heads to the bathroom where Reyna hid. However, he is ambushed by Nolan and takes a knife out to get revenge. Nolan reveals he was taught about knife fights and will not run, as a struggle results in them losing their weapons. Galeno takes out a knife and attacks but after a long struggle, Nolan emerges the victor with only a small cut to the cheek. Nolan then slaps on the cuffs. Bradford comes up to find Nolan standing over Galeno, asking if it was the first knife fight, amused that Nolan won.

Meanwhile, Grey and West arrive at another station, where Stanton works and they reveal to the gathered police they will show what type of cop Stanton is. They show division Stanton's bodycam video footage of the attack on West at the Manor Apartments, where it is obvious that Stanton deliberately refused to take action in "Lockdown", as a training aid. Seeing this, Stanton's colleagues then change their opinion of him by expressing disgusted looks at him. Stanton tries to save face by saying they know him and West say they do now.

That night, Chen and Harper are abducted by several men and Chen is confronted by a masked man, who reveals after getting tortured, Harper or Coco revealed that she and Chen were cops. Chen is dismayed to spot a bloody Harper and asserts that this isn't true and the man demands to know what the cops know of future investments of his associates, pouring gasoline on Harper with the intent to burn her alive. However, Chen stays strong and played the part well by maintaining her cover of saying Coco is not coherent enough to being honest and Salonga is in debt, and she is one keeping him from drowning. She demands that the man stop and let them go. After a while, the man lights a cigarette and remarks to Harper that she was right about Chen while they drop the act. He is revealed to be a Sgt. Mark Murray, the undercover detective who was acquainted with Harper, revealing this was the final test for Chen that she passed with flying colors. After Chen confronts them on, Harper said this was necessary to see if she would crack but didn't even after reliving her previous experience and asked if she's ready, which Chen confirm.
