"The Shot" is the first episode of the seventh season of The Rookie. This is the one hundred ninth episode of the series overall.

Summary

Now recovering from a gunshot wound and feeling the effects of his age, John and the team welcome two new rookies and continue the hunt for two dangerous inmates with very personal vendettas following their prison escape.

Plot

As the team hunts for two dangerous inmates, Jason Wyler and Oscar Hutchinson, they go to violent criminals’ home. Thinking that Jason was hiding and living inside, they enter the home. After multiple gunshots and a chase for a suspect, they find no evidence inside of a presence of Jason.

Back at the station, John and the team welcome two new rookies, Miles Penn and Seth Ridley. Their training officers are Tim Bradford (Penn) and Lucy Chen (Ridley). While on the street, Penn goes rogue and abandons Bradford while engaging in a road pursuit. Bradford confronts him about this, and they bring the car into the station. Shortly after, they discover that the car is radioactive, and the entire team tracks down the bombers in their cars. After ditching the vehicles, the team spots them from a nearby bridge. They try to tackle them, but fail, and Nolan shoots the bomber.
