"The List" is the tenth episode of the fifth season of The Rookie. This is the eighty-sixth episode of the series overall.
Summary[]
Detective Nyla Harper and James find themselves in the middle of a bank robbery which leads the entire team on a citywide manhunt. Meanwhile, Tim and Lucy finally go on their first date, but it does have a few complications.[1]
Plot[]
Bradford and Chen go out on their first date, but find themselves tackling a dispute between a cook and chef. Grey warns them against a relationship, and has them separated on duty. While taking out money at a bank, Harper and James find themselves in a middle of a robbery committed by serial robber Todd Shelf and three associates. Harper explains to James how cops identify perps, having him memorize each one for her team. After he does, she has him leave before it goes down.
Harper soon goes to an employee and reveals the situation and has her trigger the silent alarm and the robbery goes down. Harper reminds the employee to hit the alarm, as police arrive. James finds and relays the info to Bradford on the perps, as Shelf and his partner Roger Armistead shoot an armed civilian intending to do a citizen's arrest but the robbers escape, but when Armistead is wounded, Shelf leaves him behind.
The FBI are called in, and the LAPD works with Simone Clark (Niecy Nash) and her superior/training FBI Special Agent Carter Hope (James Lesure). They track an unusual money wiring to Taylor Barnes, who reveals he hacked the FBI's undercover agents and informant list to sell to the highest bidder. Barnes is shot by a sniper before he can reveal the buyer's identity. Bradford and Chen and their reinforcements surround Armistead taking a hostage in a neighborhood. Bradford hatches a plan to distract him and Armistead is subsequently arrested. At a hospital, Shelf's third associate, Amy Wright, escapes and reunites with Shelf. They push Bradford and Thorsen's patrol car off a parking garage roof, but the two narrowly escape. Shortly after, Nolan and Juarez finds Shelf dead in the truck he and Wright stole.
