Biography[]
Season 1[]
Apparently, Talia was a foster child who got shuffled between several homes.
In "Crash Course", she tells Nolan, "My childhood was pretty turbulent, so I got really good at reacting quickly."
In "The Switch", she tells a young foster child, "I grew up in the system - four foster families by the time I was your age, each of them worse than where you are now. At first, I was angry all the time. It was unfair, you know? Every other kid got to have a happy childhood. But you got to get past that. ... The sooner you stop feeling sorry for yourself and do what has to be done, the better off you'll be."
In the pilot episode, Talia counsels Chen to break up with Nolan in order to keep focus on her career.
In "Heartbreak", we learn that Talia had been seeing a married man, who sent her flowers on Valentine's Day but who "went back to his wife". At the end of the episode, when Talia shows up to Nolan's un-party, she requests a dirty martini, which Ben happily makes for her.
In "Plain Clothes Day", Talia is content to sit back and let Nolan take charge, until he needs her help rescuing a woman from her abusive husband. By the time of "The Checklist" Nolan has acted as primary on enough calls that he has nothing to make up, thanks to his T.O.
In "Homefront", Talia meets up with a foster brother whom she hasn't seen for years; when listing her foster siblings on her Academy application, she left him off the list because he was a convicted felon. She later regretted that action and is called to account for it in "The Checklist".
Season 2[]
In the Season 2 premiere "Impact", her career stalled due to her not revealing information concerning her foster brother when she originally applied to join the LAPD, and she quit the LAPD and joined the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives as a Special Agent.
