  • This is the sixth episode to be presented almost entirely through cameras. The first was the third season's "Amber", the second was the fourth season's "Hit and Run", the third and fourth were Season 5's "The Collar" and "Exposed", the fifth was the sixth season's "Crushed".
  • This is the first appearance of Monica Stevens in Season 7.
  • The episode's title is almost certainly a reference to the movie Speed, which this episode shares several plot points with, namely the hijacking of a bus with an explosive device. At the end of the episode, Nolan mentions Keanu Reeves, one of the stars of the movie, who plays an LAPD officer.
