Biography[]

Police Academy[]

Ridley spent nine months training at the LAPD Police Academy, where he met and befriended Miles Penn. Ridley and Penn ended up getting assigned to the same station, the LAPD Mid-Wilshire Patrol Division.

Rookie Officer[]

Debuting in "The Shot", Ridley seems like the ideal police officer, but the job requires quick, decisive action — something that doesn't come naturally to him. Ridley makes an error by contaminating a crime scene, when he and Chen discovered an overdosed body. He says that his ex-girlfriend had died that way and his attempts at CPR make him recall the memory. Later on, he met Penn and Celina Juarez at the top of the stairs, and they talked about how the day had taken an intense turn. He and Penn disagreed on their methods of being cops and desire to help people. Juarez then guessed that Ridley and Penn were Pisces and Aries, respectively, and they told her she was correct, asking how she knew. She nonchalantly said that it was a gift before going to talk to ADA Wesley Evers.

Ridley appears in "The Watcher", again making many mistakes, being late to roll call, and not following standard procedure during a foot chase. Ridley was late that morning because of a doctor's appointment. Later in the episode, he informs her that four years earlier, he got diagnosed with an aggressive cancer. He beat it, but the abnormal bloodwork distracted him that day.

In "Out of Pocket", he and Penn are temporarily reassigned training officers. He goes to Bradford while Penn gets Chen, this was done to test their skill in policing, with Ridley being intimidated by the sterner officer. Later, the LAPD answer a home invasion and witness a woman being held captive. Although told to stay back, both Ridley and Penn enter the house through the back door, while the burglar is distracted with the cops in the front. Ridley was reluctant to continue this act, though wanted to help the captive. Using quick thinking, the two work together to save the captive and successfully apprehend the robber, with Ridley having the honor to call it in. This declaration surprised their superiors who watch as they come out with the offender in custody. Despite praise from other officers and some small fame, the two receive reprimand from Chen, Bradford, and Grey for diving in recklessly.

In "Til Death", Ridley's tendency of lying causes Chen to look into his background and confronts him on his stories. He comes clean by revealing that he feels guilty because he wished he could've done more in those instances, where two women got hurt. At the end, Chen decides to dismiss him and has Bradford come with her to do it but both Ridley and Grey reveal that Ridley's doctor called and revealed that Ridley's cancer was real and has returned. Ridley believes his time on the job can help him keep his mind off as he receives help. This news causes Chen to reconsider her intention.

During "The Mickey", he is present when Chen's friend Tamara Colins enlists her help to bust a pill ring forming at her college, showing her pills that were given to her by the ringleader. Ridley meets Tamara and an instant attraction is made before he volunteers to go undercover to bust the ring, since he looks the part. He is supervised by Chen and Quigley Smitty and he meets the dealers, with Ridley easily getting a deal. Thanks to him, LAPD started to build a case. As thanks for his help, Tamara invited Ridley out for ice cream and sent a picture of them to Chen who was surprised. The fun time is interrupted when the dealers accost them and have Ridley come with them to meet the boss while he assures Tamara that everything will be fine. Tamara notified Chen and she quickly went to help.

In "Chaos Agent", Seth has the duty of watching a teenage girl in the hospital where his old oncology doctor talks to him in front of Chen, She then asks him what she means by old doctor where he says when joining LAPD due to insurance he had to switch. Chen then talks to Luna Grey and she says that’s not how the LAPD insurance works and it is found that later in the episode she tells Grey about the habitual lying. He is then terminated on the spot after refusing to give a blood draw to prove he had cancer. He also says to Grey that he will sue him, Tim Bradford, and the department for medical discrimination.
