Rowan Clausen is a minor character on The Rookie. He is played by Luke Cosgrove.
Biography[]
Rowan hails from Iowa and his family had long experience with struggling financially. At some point, he met the wealthy Aaron Thorsen, who became a friend. He initially viewed Aaron as a stereotypical rich guy until seeing otherwise. Rowan often joined Aaron and his other friends in travelling across the world in Aaron's private jet; it is mentioned that he would often pick out their destinations and partied hard with drugs. However, he ceased association with Aaron after Aaron was accused of murdering Aaron's best friend and roommate, Patrick Hayes, and was imprisoned in Paris.
His first and only appearance is in "Real Crime", where he is brought on the Thorsen family show and reunites with Aaron. In his interview, he voices his belief of how Aaron would never kill anybody and how he's standing by him. He repeated this belief when the show producer Morris Mackey is found murdered and he is questioned. After being allowed to leave, Det. Lopez realized Rowan was the culprit after noting he often carried luggage and had a history of partying with drugs. She further discovers his unusual wealth allowed him to have a nice home and car, despite his family status. Soon after, Rowan went to a golf course with another friend named Keith who was recording the game and inquired about Rowan's thoughts of Aaron possibly killing Morris Mackey. Unlike in his earlier statement, Rowan voices his belief that Aaron likely did it while calling his supposed friend a psycho. Afterwards, he and Keith witness Sgt. Bradford and Officer Chen arrive while announcing they came to arrest Rowan for the murders of Patrick Hayes and Morris Mackey. This revelation was live streamed by a surprised Keith. After he frantically questions why they think that, Chen went on that Rowan was smuggling drugs on Aaron's private jet and Patrick found out, threatening to tell Aaron and possibly alert the cops, leading to Rowan killing him to cover it up and somehow Mackey found about his role, and so Rowan had to silence him too. She noted that he framed Aaron both times for his crimes. Rowan nervously tries to explain but seeing he's been exposed, suddenly runs to escape in a golf cart while more cops appear on the scene to box him in. However, he winds up crashing in a sand pit after it topples over. He is not hurt, and Chen helps Rowan out before placing him under arrest. In an interview, Aaron mentions that he should have suspected something was up with Rowan when recalling he made the plans for trips and wished Patrick told him, so things would have been different. Afterwards the truth of Patrick's murder spreads through the city. Aaron later reveals to Dexter Hayes, Patrick's father, that Rowan confessed to the murders, leading to his arrest. Both Aaron and the Hayes family took solace in getting justice for Patrick and having Aaron's name cleared.
