Nell Forester is a guest character on The Rookie. She is played by Sara Rue.

Biography[]

Nell is a dispatcher at the Mid-Wilshire station. She knows many of the officers, mainly by the sound of their voices as they come over the radio. She first appears in "The Roundup" when Bradford seeks to gain an edge over the other teams by getting Nell to send them any felony calls that come in. Later, he asks her out for a drink, but when she finds out he's married (though separated), she ends their discussion and leaves.

Nell seems to be fond of travel and the outdoors; in her first appearance she says that she recently hiked Malibu Creek and that she dreams of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. In "Clean Cut", when she's chatting with Elroy Basso over the radio, he mentions a trip she's been meaning to take to Borneo.

Nell also seems to be accustomed to the less glamorous aspects of police work, as she cheerfully says to Elroy about a gruesome crime scene, in 2x08, "I hear it's a doozy!" When Nolan introduces Ellroy to Nell, she throws her arms around him in delight at finally meeting him in person.

Nell's voice can be heard in various episodes on the dispatch calls.

In "Day in the Hole", she and Ellroy Basso have become a couple; they meet up with Nolan and Bailey for a desert holiday, and Nell says that Elroy is "the love of my life". She mentions that she has a "murder podcast" and that Elroy does all the forensic analysis.

When Nolan and Juarez ask Nell about police statistics in "The Squeeze", Nell asks if she can use their investigation in her murder podcast, at which Nolan hesitates, so Nell says, "Get back to me."
