"Mutiny And The Bounty" is the seventeenth episode of the seventh season of The Rookie. This is the one hundred twenty-fifth episode of the series overall.
Summary[]
The team helps Skip Tracer Randy when his new love interest is kidnapped. Meanwhile, Angela and Nyla enlist their moms to help catch a con artist, and Wesley is threatened to drop a case.
Plot[]
Randy arrives at the Nolan home where he tells Nolan and Bailey he is in love and that the object of his affections is Chastity, girlfriend of Nolan’s half-brother Pete. He asks for their help confessing his love to Chastity and offers to make it worth their while by revealing that he recently discovered one of his previous clients paid him in the form of bitcoin, and that Randy now has millions of dollars to spend. He promptly offers to pay them for their advice, which they accept due to the fact that they need a new roof.
Harper gets a call from her mother of an intruder in her home, before she and Lopez go to the house of Harper's mother, Ruth. They find her talking to a deputy, whom Ruth believe to be a burglar. Harper immediately questions him on why he was trying to get into the house, and he says he was there to serve an eviction notice. Upon hearing more of the explanation, Harper and Lopez deduce that Ruth was conned. Lopez starts to call her husband before being surprised by the arrival of her own mother – who greets and dashes past her to speak with Ruth. Harper and Lopez are surprised that their mothers are friends too, but Ruth clarifies they are in fact best friends. Emilia tells her daughter that she would know this, had she called more. Both Harper and Lopez comment they do not like this situation.
Meanwhile, Bradford and Penn are at the DA office where Wesley thanks them for coming to testify against a certain member of the Eastern Front. When the accused comes in, he immediately defends himself, with his lawyer being confident they have no case.
Randy later seeks advice from Chen and Juarez about winning Chastity over but finds the help to be little unhelpful. Randy visits Chastity at her job with expensive gifts that impress her coworkers. Chastity soon tells Randy because she is already involved with Pete that they cannot be together although she does offer him the chance to be her sugar daddy, something he considers. Randy later goes outside and calls John about how he tried to impress Chastity and failed. A car pulls up and armed men exit, Randy casually tells John that he’s about to be robbed and John tells him not to do anything because he is close in the area. Despite the warning Randy beats up the would be robbers just as John arrives and is impressed by the act.
Later on, at a parking garage Wesley goes to his car before a mask man attacks him from behind. Wesley tells him to take his wallet and keys, but the man is not interested in money or his car. The man instead demands that Wesley drop the case against Colin Burns. Hearing this, Wesley refuses and warns him that his wife is a detective and a sharpshooter. The man says that Sean Del Monte should drop the case against the Eastern Front member, otherwise his son will be exposed as a drug addict, something unknown to the latter. He then tells Wesley of an email holding the incriminating evidence of his claims, before leaving the scene.
At the station, Harper and Lopez review the files and reveal to their mothers that Ruth was scammed into legally selling the house. Ruth mentions a real estate friend named Priscilla who helped with her the papers before it becomes clear that the deceived her, with Ruth crying at this news but is told they would make it right. Sometime later, Lopez reveals that Priscilla has actually been on the radar of the fraud division for a while, though they lacked evidence. She reveals a plan to trick her into exposing herself, she put her own house on the market. When Ruth questions this, since Priscilla targets naive elderly clients, Lopez says they have the perfect person for the role: Emilia who excitedly agrees. Wesley comes in and reveals to Lopez that he was approached by crooks, who showed him how Logan Del Monte is a drug addict and she gives him advice.
Later on, Emilia meets Priscilla who takes the bait and is caught falsifying documents. After signing, Emilia tells Priscilla that’s a knock at the door must be her daughter and Priscilla gets nervous quickly deciding that she needs to leave but Emilia states her daughter really would love to meet her. Lopez and Harper enter the home and arrest Priscilla for fraud. Emilla high fives her daughter on a job well done.
Meanwhile, Wesley tells Del Monte of his son's situation and reveals the video to confirm it. Del Monte is horrified and Wesley thinks the best outcome is send his son to rehab and let him handle the prosecution. While preparing to send Logan to rehab he is short he's nervous and protesting son that he and his mother will help him get through this while continuing to support him. Just as they were about to pull off, members of Eastern Front arrive an open fire on them causing Del Monte to shield his son well quickly grabbing his own gun and returning fire. He soon calls the police office situation and they arrive just in time to detain the shooters. Unfortunately, his son got hit in the fray as quickly rushed to the hospital. A blood covered Del Monte sits while Wesley arrives, he asked what happened as Del Monte revealed the doctors informed him Logan was only grazed but this still left worries with Del Monte on the worse if he was really injured. He tells Wesley that he intends to drop out of the DA running for his son in his time of recovery since he is the main priority now. Wesley tells him he understands because at the end of the day nothing is more important than his child.
