The Rookie Wiki

John Nolan's house is the residence of LAPD Officer John Nolan and his wife Bailey Nune.

History[]

When John Nolan first moves to California, he stays in the guest house of a friend named Ben McRee. Ben is obviously well off and frequently absent, so John assumes the role of caretaker while he's there. At one point Ben mentions that the house has been featured in Architectural Digest. Nolan states the address of Ben's home to be 5439 Chautauqua during a phone call he made to report being attacked by the brother of the man he killed in the line of the duty in "Standoff".

The fixer-upper[]

In the first episode of season 2, John has relocated to a foreclosed property he bought from a bank and is undertaking some serious remodeling. The interior of the house is covered in gaudy wallpaper and graffiti. Being a former contractor, John seems to be having a great time knocking down walls and re-wiring.

In "Breaking Point", Howard Green, whose family used to live in the house, comes by to see if John knows where they are; apparently they abandoned the house and changed their identities out of fear he might find them. John knows nothing about the family, and he's forced to turn Howard over to the authorities when he breaks in, self-harms with a sharp implement, and then attacks Nolan.

As the season continues, the remodeling progresses. John even receives help from Nick Armstrong. John's son Henry and his fiancée Abigail spend a weekend there, and Grace Sawyer comes over for dinner to help John "test drive the new kitchen".

In "Follow-Up Day" John tells his half-brother Pete that he's remodeling a house "over on Beachwood", which was the only reference given as to the location of the house until "Under Siege" when Bailey stated the address of the home to be 2273 Lakeview Drive. The latter reference is very close to the address of the actual house where exteriors are shot as it is located at 2733 Lake Hollywood Drive, Los Angeles.

By the end of season 2, the house has been finished and furnished, but Nolan ends up tearing out parts of the inner walls looking for evidence planted by an LAPD traitor in an attempt to incriminate Nolan. At the start of season 3, West and Chen are pitching in to help repair and "smoke-cleanse" the house. Nolan's mother comes to visit and overstays her welcome, forcing Nolan to sleep in his own guest bedroom, in "La Fiera" and "Sabotage".

In the last episode of season 3, "Threshold", Nolan meets a woman who's been house-sitting for a neighbor and got locked out of their house, Bailey Nune. In season 4 they begin dating and are still a couple by the end of the season. In the middle of Season 4, Bailey moves into the house and now lives there with Nolan. Bailey later proposes to Nolan in the house in the Season 5 episode "The Fugitive" and he accepts. In the Season 6 episode "The Hammer", Nolan and Bailey's wedding takes place at a spiritual oasis, Zen Gardens, which is owned by Aaron Thorsen's family instead of at the house due to unforeseen demolition work being done by one of their neighbors.
