Officer Jerry McGrady was a guest character on The Rookie, played by Peter Onorati. McGrady's badge number was 9944.
History[]
He first appears in "Poetic Justice", where Watch Commander Wade Grey entrusts newly appointed Sergeant Tim Bradford to persuade McGrady into retiring. Bradford finds McGrady in the armory and after having a good talk, he asks him to accompany him on a ride along, something McGrady eagerly accepted. Bradford intended to have the event persuade McGrady into retirement but a case comes up. McGrady is revealed to have connection with the case, as his late friend worked it after arresting the suspect who hid a large amount of gold in the city. McGrady helps Bradford by supplying him with info that clear up flaws in the case. When they make a stop at his house, it is revealed he has a daughter, Ashley McGrady who takes an interest in Bradford. Much later, McGrady talks about how things have changed on the job before Bradford tries to bring up retiring until McGrady realizes he knows where the gold is. Surely enough, they find the gold and intercept a fleeing criminal who was in pursuit of the treasure. McGrady was the officer who told dispatch they were good on the scene. Bradford congratulates McGrady on his instincts while McGrady thanks him for making his last day memorable, deciding to retire on his own volition. At the station, Bradford has the whole precinct celebrate McGrady and announces how he has decided to retire after 43 years and 9 months of service. Earning applause from his colleagues, McGrady tells them to protect LA for him.
In "Heart Beat", Ashley who has started to date Bradford reveals that off-screen retirement party was held for him.
In "The Fugitive", Bradford reveal that McGrady is facing heart problems, which causes Ashley to make a dietary plan for Bradford.
