Ilya Sokurov (aka Trevor Gurin) is a character from season 4 of The Rookie. He was a former operative for the Central Intelligence Agency turned terrorist after the betrayal of CIA Director Bill August which resulted in the death of his wife and daughters. He is played by Yuriy Sardarov.
Biography[]
At some point in time prior to the events of The Rookie, Sokurov was recruited by the Central Intelligence Agency to be apart of Enervo, a CIA black operation where foreign assets were recruited and trained to create chaos in their home countries. After joining Enervo and completing training at Homey Airport (Area 51), he was arrested by Russian authorities in 2018 and betrayed by the head of Enervo, Bill August, who had neglected to protect his family from Russian authorities. After being sent to a Russian penal colony, he escaped and traveled back to the United States to conduct his revenge on the country that betrayed him, the CIA, and Bill August.
Sokurov first started by hiring Ezekiel Freemont to build six detonators for bombs. He then attempted to kill him but Freemont escaped. After purchasing the detonators, Sokurov later broke into the house of Professor Meadows to steal a manuscript of Los Angeles traffic patterns and sometime after that kidnapped the husband of a National Guard soldier posted at the National Guard Armory. Using a bomb, he blew up a power station in the Hollywood Hills, injuring officers John Nolan and Lucy Chen, as well as knocking out power to most of the San Fernando Valley. Later that day, Sokurov killed the National Guard soldier's husband and broke into the National Guard Armory, stealing 200 kilos of C-4 explosives while using the National Guard soldier as bait for the LAPD in order to get away.
Later on, Sokurov placed the explosives in rented moving trucks and hired 5 men to drive around Los Angeles with them. Using GPS activated detonators, one of the trucks exploded, killing 17 people and injuring 34. The rest of the trucks and their explosives were disabled and Sokurov fled the scene. After the explosions, he was sighted by Federal Bureau of Investigation trainee Simone Clark and assaulted her. He fled the scene to a nearby aquarium, where he was apprehended by Clark and Nolan. During his apprehension, he was shot by a CIA agent attempting to kill him; however, he survived and was taken into custody.
