In The Rookie episode "Day In The Hole", the Frontera Police Department is located in the fictional small town of the same name, not far from the Mexican border, around 4 hours away from Los Angeles. It's a mix of police station and diner (The diner is at the front, while the police station is at the back. When Officer Nolan is taken to the police station, the phone rings; Officer Gabrielle Navar states that there are only 2 phone calls a week. She also mentioned that the station had budget cuts, so they are only able to use the internet during business hours and only the sheriff has the keys for the gun safe, when David's crew came to get him out of prison because David never showed up (Officer John Nolan and Officer Gabrielle Navar arrest him for speeding down the freeway.)
Gabrielle Navar, a young policewoman with the rank of officer who grew up there, works for this department. When her chief sheriff is absent, Officer John Nolan is transferred to the Frontera Police Department for a week to assist her.
