Donovan Town is a recurring character on The Rookie, played by Enver Gjokaj. He is the ex-husband of Nyla Harper and the father of Lila Town. He first appeared in "Warriors and Guardians".

Biography

While Nyla was deep undercover, Donovan raised their daughter, Lila, alone. They eventually divorced and he refused to let her see her after an incident when Lila witnessed one of Nyla's marks almost kill her.

Season 2

In "Warriors and Guardians", Nyla comes to Donovan, petitioning for joint custody. Donovan isn't too open to the idea, but thinks about it. In "Fallout", after Nyla picks Lila up from school due to the missle warning without telling Donovan, he's outraged and wants her arrested, but once Nolan tells him about how much Nyla truly cares about Lila, he just takes her and goes home.

Season 4

In "A.C.H.", he and Nyla took Lila trick or treating. At the end of the night, the pair ended up drinking too much and slept together. When they woke up, both agreed that it was a mistake and Nyla encouraged him to proceed with his plans of proposing to his girlfriend, Penelope.

In "Hit and Run", it is revealed that Donovan and Penelope were engaged and were planning to move to San Francisco with Lila. Because Nyla has been avoiding his calls after their night together, she had to hear the news from her lawyer.

In "Breakdown", Nyla has hired a private investigator to dig up dirt on him. Having found none, the investigator looked into Penelope instead and finds out that she used to be an escort. Nyla again tries to convince Donovan to not move Lila away or to agree to give her custody at least for the rest of the year, but he does not budge, forcing Nyla to tell her lawyer to use the intel on Penelope on the case. Donovan breaks things off with Penelope for not telling him about her past, not wanting to "be with another woman who lies to me", and argues with Nyla about her actions.

During "Mother's Day", he spends time with Lila and his mother Maris, upsetting Harper who looked forward to spending time with her. Harper even speculates that he was doing this to get back her. At the end, Lila and her grandmother come down to spend the remaining day with her. Maris also expressed disappointment at Donovan's action. Lila also revealed that her father got a back rash out of nowhere.
