Alexi Hawley is the creator and showrunner of ABC's The Rookie. He is also a writer and executive producer of the series.

Biography

Early life

Not much is known about Alexi Hawley's early life. When he was 12, his father Tom Hawley was a businessman and his mother Louise Armstrong was a non-fiction writer. His mother died in 2008. He has a twin brother Noah who has written for Bones, Fargo and Legion.

Career

In 2009, Alexi was part of the crew for the TV series The Unusuals with his brother Noah.

Hawley landed his staff writing job on a show, Castle, premiered in March 2009, which was based in New York about Rick Castle, a novelist, and Katherine Beckett, a NYPD detective. In May 2016 the series ended after eight seasons.

He worked on Body of Proof and Training Day. In 2016, Hawley made his executive producer debut in the drama series The Following, which aired on Fox but was cancelled after three seasons. In 2016, Hawley became supervising producer on his first drama series, State of Affairs, which aired on NBC, but the series was cancelled after one season.

In 2017, Hawley created and sold The Rookie to ABC. Eventually, the series received a pilot order, and later a series order. Hawley wrote multiple episodes of the series, including the pilot. Then he will reunite to his Castle alumnus Nathan Fillion.

Personal life

Hawley was single at the beginning of the 2000s.
